With the recent move of my studio I now have a large enough space that I can work with other professionals such as photographers, hair stylists, designers and models.
I love doing makeup for photo shoots, maybe it’s because I get to see my work behind the lens too, the transformation of makeup, hair and a fun wardrobe can bring out the beauty in anyone. Maybe you want to feel sexy, scary, glamorous, like a bad girl or even go back in time to a different decade. Whatever your imagination can come up with we can achieve.
Up and coming photo shoots are the Pin Up style, which is very exciting to me as it’s one of my favorites. The look, the props, the hair, the clothing it’s all so much fun! It’s always a bunch of laughs and a very relaxed atmosphere. As a client you will feel like a model with all the pampering and attention that is on you. Just like a super model with her personal assistants 🙂 With the team of professionals I have, we know how to pose you, relax you, prep you, and overall make the experience memorable!
It’s not too late to get in on all the fun
there are still a couple openings this Friday, July 11th.
The photographer will be Tracy Harvey-https://www.facebook.com/TracyHarveyPhotography
Hair stylist will be Jacqeline Clark
Lately I have had a lot of people say, “Wait, you do more than make up?” Yes, I do the whole skin care regiment! I am actually an Esthetican which means I can perform waxing, manicures, pedicures, facials as well as make up!
Make up is my favorite and eventually what I would love to do most of the day but I figure why not put the rest of my skill set to use too. For example instead of coming to me to cover up acne I can show you how to cure it or perhaps give you a facial to help heal it and prevent future outbreaks. Having a full skincare background and using it daily better enables me to show you more then just a smokey eye.
Brows, yes I can show you how to make them look even or uniform but what if you needed to remove the uni part in the middle? Well you’d be in luck because I can do that and then shape them so you and your eyebrows look perfect! (Little note, no two brows are even!)
Yes its true manicures and pedicures are dime a dozen and available on every corner so I don’t even try to compete with the nail salons around BUT what I offer is exceptional customer service, a one on one experience and I can offer a one stop shop. Many people don’t realize it but you could have a whole day of beauty here at the studio!
There are many different titles for Salons such as Spas, Wellness Centers and so on. Just because my name has the word, “Make Up” in it don’t let that deceive you, I am a master of all! So keep me in mind the next time you have skin care concerns. I don’t offer just another pretty face!
It’s not just Make Up it’s an experience. ~CG

The first impression on having my studio in my home hasn’t always been a good one.
I have a suspicion many people feel I am not 100% legal due to operating out of my home. While this may seem weird to some, I have gone through a lengthy process that ensures my clients safety in all aspects to include health, tax and local zoning laws. So hopefully I can help reject any withholding’s anyone may have for coming to see me.
Why would I want to have my studio in my home, well there are many reasons. Such as having my studio in my home allows me to work around my clients schedules. I am able to work 7 days a week 24 hours a day if I wish, but I am still in my home to fold my laundry, make my family dinner or help my children with homework in between my clients.
Another very important aspect as a small business owner is my overhead is a lot less then an actual shop where I pay rent. I am able to pass this savings along to my clients (There are lots of other expenses and hoops to jump through with having it in home but I think it benefits my needs and my clients better at this point in my life/business stage). The last major benefit for me is scheduling, if my husbands schedule changes due to being military I don’t need to cancel my appointments since my children are home safe and I am available for an emergency.
Now onto my in home studios downfalls, at first I find people are skeptical about coming into my home, especially for private appointments. I cannot assure you enough, myself and my family have the utmost professionalism and respect for the privacy of all of my clients. I have set my studio in a quiet and private room complete with a bathroom next to the studio for my clients use.
Now sure you may hear my dog, kids or see my cat sleeping in the sun but it’s my home. I welcome you as my guest and try to make you feel as comfortable as possible.
If you have been wanting to visit me but hesitant then the holidays are the perfect time. I have been busy decorating and making it festive. My December promo is a free hand treatment with any service, which everyone needs in the winter! Contact me to make your appointment. Make up for Christmas Parties, Photos, Waxing for all your special events, lessons and natural manicures. I am the one stop shop for beauty.
So lately a lot of professional photographers have contacted me for my rates on makeup/hair for photo shoots. I try to work deals with the photographers BUT can only go so low without loosing money on my end. There are two parts to the work that I do, one my time, two my professional products. Remember, you get what you pay for! Regardless, make sure you do your research, if you are doing a photo shoot with a so called “professional” photographer then make sure that the makeup artist they hired or referred to you does good work. Specifically be on the lookout for which products they use, how much experience they have with lighting, posing, etc.
Its an insult from one professional to another when the photographer charges hundreds of dollars for the photo-shoot AND photos but thinks $50 is too much for hair AND makeup.
Buyer beware! It isn’t necessary to spend top dollar, just make sure that the artist(s) (makeup artist and photographer) have your best interest at the top of their priority list and not just about raking in the $$$$$$.
So this leads me back to the title of my post, what can I do for you?
- I can guarantee excellent customer service, clean and sanitary products/working environment.
- My full and undivided attention to you while you are in my chair.
- The most up to date trends, looks and colors (and if for some reason I don’t know, I will find out for you) and I will not tell you something that you want to hear.
- Honesty is very important to me and my business. Honesty builds trust and trust builds clients.
I have worked with so many talented and honest photographers, so if you are in need of photos with or without make up and hair I can always make referrals for you too. For most this is an investment and something you don’t do all the time, so it should be a whole experience and you should be the “top model”.
Keep me in mind the next time you need a makeup artist or photographer, let my expertise help you with both! Big Smiles, CG
I am doing a whole blog on my October Special (please share with all your friends). I am so excited about this one. I LOVE Halloween and dress up so I have planned a photo shoot around my passions! You can see some of my trial work I have been doing on myself the past couple of weeks. I also had a chance to try out my skills on a really great friend. The photos are all done by my husband and I. As we are not photographers it’s a passion that we both enjoy and have been doing lots of training, and practice with. We first got started so that we could capture my work without having to hire a professional to live in my back pocket to capture each make up test, job and education I do. As we don’t want to step on anyone’s toes as far as the photography goes we make an awesome team together and we are 100% dependable with each other. As a professional we have the up most respect for anyone who does proper training, procedures and operates within the law (i.e. licenses, insurance, taxes, etc). You can see the capability of the photos we are able to capture in this blog, by all means if you would like to hire your own photographer for this shot at your own expense above my price you are more then welcome to do that. The shoot will still need to be at my studio in Gales Ferry.
So here are the details you all have been waiting for. The whole shoot will last for about 4 hours, you bring your own costume (we will talk about it before the shoot) any props you want ( I have a ton too), and I will do your hair and make up. The whole deal will start at $50*. That cost will also include one unmarked picture you will receive digitally. We will also have more pictures you can purchase via cd if you would like to purchase more, this allows us to keep the cost low for you.
*$50 covers basic makeup application on the face for the costume look. Lashes can be purchased separately and additional charge if more makeup is needed for body.
Check out the slideshow of the transformation to a zombie, we had so much fun.
Here is the finished products. Lots of different looks and I have a ton more spooky settings and props to use. Don’t forget to Pin the ones you like!
Happy Haunting, don’t forget to subscribe to my blog, like me on FB and share me with all your friends.
I wanted to show off my studio a little more for those of you who have not had a chance to visit!
It is a small but cozy spot and it can transform to accommodate any service I offer. My two staple pieces of furniture would be my make up chair and massage table, the make up chair is pretty cool since it can fold up and go with me on location.
The massage bed also folds up to make more room in my studio which is necessary! I don’t take my bed on location (too heavy). The bed I use is for waxing of any type, facials and pedicures.
I also have a cosmetology chair that is awesome for when I do hair for events and photo shoots, it is right next to a dresser that I refinished. It holds all the hair products, towels and sheets.
My nail station is an old sewing machine table. It’s pretty cool because the top flips open and all my products are stored inside but also the client can sit on the other side of me and be comfortable. I really like this because I get to up-cycle!
Over all it’s a pretty cool space that I am proud of and love having clients come to, I try to make them feel comfortable and at home. My decor is a reflection of my personality and filled with colors and things that I love that help to inspire me.
If you haven’t made an appointment and seen it yet, then what are you waiting for? Now is a perfect time with my September service special, pedicure and facial. I am offering the full relaxation experience.
Also don’t forget my next education will be on brows, Thursday September 19th at 6 pm. This class includes waxing and grooming of the eyebrows (included in the class price).
Another incentive will be a referral program, if you refer two friends then you will receive 50% your next appointment. *(50% will be applied only after the two friends have completed their appointments).
As always, I would love to hear feedback and comments. Like Me and subscribe!
I love to hear about where and how long it takes people to put their make up on. If you are anything like me then you have a dresser top, counter top, bin or vanity that is covered in products you play with every morning. I am lucky enough to have my Make Up studio in my home so I take full advantage of the lighting and mirrors in there. I tend to keep my personal makeup in a makeup bag and pull it out every morning. I have bins and bins of back up but my favorites stay with me all the time.
Not sure if it’s me getting old, but I have to be right up next to the mirror now to see the details of my make up, ugggg. This being said the bathroom counter can sometimes prevent me from getting close enough lol . I have to say that there are mornings that I will take my Make Up bag out to the car with me and do it out there. The natural lighting is amazing and something about the angle of the visor mirror really makes me look good. Tweezing is also amazing in the car, you can see every hair! (Public service announcement, DO NOT do makeup or tweeze while driving or at a stop light, only while the car is off, thank you.)
Now the actual act of putting on Make Up can differ for me. Some days I like to go full on professional and do my layers, smokey eye, lashes and the whole bit. Then others I only want BB cream, lip gloss and mascara. On average I would say I spend no more then a half hour but can be up to an hour if I go all out.
Here are some pictures of my studio and of me doing my Make Up! Comment where your favorite place to get Made Up is and how long it takes you!
As always Subscribe, Like me, follow me and Comment below. thanks and have fun getting made up! CG

A little background on what you can expect. I am a LLC, and certified Esthetician and MakeUp Artist. I have exceptional customer service, I use quality name brand products and supplies, I keep a clean and sanitary work station but most importantly I am licensed by the state of Connecticut’s Ledge Light Health Department. My studio is in my home so occasionally you will see my black lab, cat or family. Due to state rules I do no allow children or pets at the appointments, I also back this policy up with the fact that this should be a relaxing experience for you to enjoy your treatments not chasing your kids around! From my experience having children around is very stressful on both you as the client and myself as your host. Specifically trying to entertain your little ones and keep them safe while having you time! Please also see my web site for full details and policies.
Thank you for all your support and I can’t wait to meet some new clients. Don’t forget about the contest, subscribe, like my page and leave feedback. If there is a subject you would like to know about or education please let me know!
Taking a break from Make Up posts and making this one about my studio again. Love the way it’s coming out and all the neat things I have in it. My vanity is looking amazing, I have added a photo area for before and after shoots. Nail station is to come soon, hair station and then wax station all within a 10 X 12 space. Check out the pics below. Starting a business and doing it the correct/legal way is a pain but I am hoping it will be well worth it in the end. I guess when you have a home business and work for yourself there is no punch clock you just work night and day. I am loving this new opportunity in my life. I would love to hear more from my followers/readers. Feedback is the best way for me to interact with my audience and find out what you want or need more from me. I also love to do contests. If you have good contests or prize ideas please let me know. Thanks for reading and enjoy my pics!
